A new subspecies of Ceroplophana modiglianii Gestro (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae, Rutelinae) from Malaysia Naturalis
Kuijten, P.J..
In 1893, Gestro founded the genus Ceroplophana, only including the simultaneously described species C. modiglianii Gestro. He considered the genus — based on the only known specimen — closely related to Peperonota Westwood, Didrepanephorus Wood-Mason, and Dicaulocephalus Gestro. For rutelines, the males in these genera have strikingly developed secondary sexual characters. Gestro's species was the first representative from an insular locality of this South-East Asian group (Si Rambé, Batakland, North Sumatra; this locality is mentioned on the map in the report of the explorer who collected the material, Modigliani, 1891). Recently I could study seven ♂ of modiglianii from West Malaysia. They show striking differences from Gestro's description. Gestro's...

A revision of the genus Parastasia in the Indo-Australian region (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae: Rutelinae) Naturalis
Kuijten, P.J..
A revision is presented of the species in the genus Parastasia. All known species are described, 11 new species are established, the parameres of most species are figured, the taxonomic levels of several taxa are changed, and 21 new synonymies are proposed. For many taxa lectotypes are designated and many specimens bearing incorrect or dubious type labels are degraded to their true status. Some aspects of distribution and dispersal are shortly discussed. A tentative key and a check list are added.

Revision of some Hybosorine Genera from the Indo-Malayan Subregion: Microphaeochroops, Microphaeolodes, Mimocoelodes, Pantolasius and Phaeochridius (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae: Hybosorinae) Naturalis
Kuijten, P.J..
A taxonomic revision of the Hybosorine genera Microphaeochroops Pic, Microphaeolodes Kuijten, Mimocoelodes Pic, Pantolasius Lansberge and Phaeochridius Lansberge is given. Microphaeochroops nigrosetosus, Microphaeochroops varius, Microphaeolodes mulumontis and Pantolasius bandaharae are proposed as new species, and Microphaeolodes as a new genus. Lectotypes are designated for Microphaeochroops peninsularis Arrow, Phaeochridius derasus (Harold) and Phaeochridius haroldi Fairmaire. Phaeochridius haroldi Fairmaire is synonymized with Phaeochridius derasus (Harold); Phaeochridius benderitteri Pic and Phaeochridius cinereicollis Arrow are synonymized with Phaeochridius uniformis Arrow.

Rutelarcha, Lutera and Cyphelytra: notes on taxonomy and Nomenclature, Diagnoses, and keys (Coleoptera: Rutelinae, Rutelini) Naturalis
Kuijten, P.J..
Rutelarcha, Lutera and Cyphelytra are restated as genera, in the subtribus Rutelina; Arrow (1917) considered them synonyms of Parastasia, in the Parastasiina. Machatschke's (1972) new name Parastasia pauliana for Parastasia nigromaculata (Ohaus) (= Lutera) therefore is superfluous, and merged into synonymy. Lectotypes are designated for Cyphelytra ochracea and Rutelarcha quadrimaculata. The genera and species are diagnosed in a table, keys and descriptions, and some diagnostic characters are figured.
